Reaching out for Wildlife in Bolton!

Make Bolton a great place for people and wildlife!

The Lancashire Wildlife Trust, with support from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, is running a three year project to benefit the people and the wildlife in Bolton. We are enabling communities to grow organic produce, create and maintain habitats and find out more about local wildlife.

There are opportunities to take part in accredited training, volunteering, wildlife surveys and lots more! Please, come and join us!

Schools
Our aim within this project is working with schools empowering them to set up gardening/wildlife groups to learn about nature, to create wildlife habitats, to grow plants and to maintain  green spaces in the school grounds.

We offer:

  • Free officer time to help with relevant projects, including making food growing or wildlife areas.
  • Funding advice for creating wildlife and food growing areas.
  • Project work with pupils creating bird stations, bird feeders, minibeast areas, wildlife meadows, bulb and tree planting, growing flowers and vegetables in containers and many other projects.
  • Training parents, teachers and interested people in the community about how to maintain and enhance their wildlife areas in the school grounds. We can also offer visits on inset days to help teachers link their outdoor resources to the curriculum.

Community
Our aim within this project is to promote and support  local wildlife conservation and organic growing by providing people with the skills they need to contribute towards making Bolton a great place for people and wildlife.

Just some of the things we offer!

  • Join one of our community allotments sites.
  • Come along to our organic growing and wildlife information sessions or workshops.
  • Let us help your group find funding.
  • Contribute information for garden bird or bumblebee survey.
  • Gain a recognised award in organic growing.
  • Help us grow wildlife-friendly plants for use in local schools and green spaces.
