Access:
Main entrance is on Thicketford Road where there is a good sized
car park. There are also access points off Waggon Road, Bury Road
and Crompton Vale.
Seven
Acres Local Nature Reserve is a diverse site with around 10 different
habitat types including heathland, acid grassland, open water and
broad-leaved woodland.
The
site is bisected by Bradshaw Brook which flows from Jumbles Country
Park. Bradshaw Brook has a rich diversity of flora and fauna and
species of note include Water Crowfoot, Kingfisher and Dipper.
On
the southern border of the site are two old millponds, one of which
has recently been re-installed and one of which is due to be de-silted.
Work
on the site is currently being coordinated between the Trust, Bolton
Metropolitan Borough Council and Bolton Countryside Service. Bolton
Conservation Volunteers have assisted with a significant amount
of the work on site and hold regular workdays during the week and
sometimes at weekends. Visit Bolton

Number
of birds recorded: over 70 including Kingfisher, Dipper, Sparrowhawk,
Kestrel, Song Thrush, Bullfinch, Grey Heron and Blackcap.
Number
of butterflies recorded: over 18 including Painted Lady, Red
Admiral, Holly Blue, Brimstone, Speckled Wood, Small Copper and
Wall Brown.
Number
of dragonflies recorded: over 10 including Broad Bodied Chaser,
Banded Demoiselle, Brown Hawker and Migrant Hawker.
