Rochdale Local Group Raise Funds For Trust

Rochdale Local Group consists of several loyal and devoted members who are ardent wildlife enthusiasts.  Since approaching the Trust indicating their desire to support our work they have raised a grand total of £4,500 through a series of fundraising events.

A cheque for £500 was presented to Clare Kenny, Fundraising Manager of LWT on 7th September at their monthly meeting at Littleborough Coach House. The focus of the September event was the presentation of awards to the winners of the  annual Photographic competition.  There was a very high level of entries this year with 114 submitted and 600 people viewing the exhibition at Hollingworth Lake to cast their votes on the categories of Nature, Landscape and Junior photographer.

The funds raised were also as a result of a fete held at Hollingworth Lake organised by the Rochdale Group, who themselves hosted a number of stalls including Tombola, Hook-a-duck and 2nd hand book sales.  Partner organisations were also invited to attend.  The event was such a success that the group anticipate expanding the number of stalls next year.

Clare Kenny said: "We are delighted by the enthusiasm and support given by this dedicated group over recent years.  It is always a pleasure to meet with them and hear about their latest endeavours.”

Pentland Donate Award Money

Pentland Distribution, Blackburn recently won a company environmental award in recognition of their efforts to reduce energy and make carbon emissions savings through replacement of light fittings and roller shutter doors to more energy efficient versions.  This is testimony to the assertion that ‘doing the right thing’ needn’t cost the earth and often proves cost effective, which is good for us and good for business.

Pentland kindly chose to donate their £500 award to the Lancashire Wildlife Trust for which we are most grateful.  We look forward to developing a partnership with Pentland to keep moving forward in a joint commitment to consider our local environment and protect our precious wildlife.
