Mosslands Store Huge Amounts Of CO2, Forever

Drained or dug up, mosslands emit vast amounts of carbon dioxide, heating up the planet.

They once stretched across the North West of England, but today less than 2% is left. These remaining mosslands are still under threat of destruction, largely for peat extraction used in horticulture.

The degraded mosslands in Northern Britain could be 'leaking' as much carbon into the environment every year as 110,000 cars.

But restored to health, they absorb it - and the carbon payoff is immediate.

In the North West there are 840 hectares of mosslands that can be restored as carbon sinks, with the potential to absorb the carbon footprints of 25,657 people.

Restoring mosslands to carbon sinks can be as easy as blocking a few drains to make the spongy soils wet again.

A Simple Solution

The average cost of securing and restoring mossland sites is calculated to be £30 per tonne (feel free to ask us for the numbers bit), so that’s how we’ve worked out our packages.

To keep it simple we have put together annual packages, so you can choose which one will most closely meet your objectives.

But if you’d like to balance out more C02 emissions than this, we will be more than happy to work together to produce a bespoke solution for your organisation.
