The Kickstart Scheme is a 6 month paid job with a local employer providing an opportunity for young people to gain experience of working in some of Britain’s most exciting companies.

We have a number of kickstart roles available for young people looking to gain experience in areas such as events, conservation & maintenance.

Our candidates will each get allocated a mentor / line manager on site who will provide them with a hands-on kinaesthetic approach to advising them on life in the workplace.

How to apply

First you need to make sure you are eligible for the Kickstart scheme; to access any of these opportunities you need to be in receipt of Universal Credit and aged 16-24 years old.  To learn if you’re entitled to claim Universal Credit, you can visit here.

If you are in receipt of Universal Credit and fall within the age bracket, you can ask your Work Coach at the JobCentre to refer you for any of our Kickstart trainee roles. Once you have been referred, you will need to fill in an application form and return it by email to the contact(s) listed on the relevant job description. You can download an application form below.

Each role will close upon receipt of sufficient applications. On this basis we would advise that applications are submitted as soon as possible.

If you are keen to work, but struggling to find employment, visit the National Careers Service website in the first instance to get advice.

There are also other schemes for young people that you might be eligible for like traineeships, internships and work placements. Apprenticeship opportunities are also open to people of all ages.
