Each of our Livestock Checkers visits their site once a week for between 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the site, to check the health and welfare of the livestock grazing there. They will learn how to behave around livestock and what signs to be aware of to ensure they are grazing in a safe environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the relationship between grazing livestock and the wildlife and how they benefit each other. We currently need livestock checkers at the following sites:

  • Lightshaw (WA3 3UH)  – Wednesday, Saturday
  • Cutacre (M29 8PB) – Tuesday, Friday
  • Astley Moss (M29 7LG) – Tuesday, Thursday (May-Oct) (please contact Mike Longden at mlongden@lancswt.org.uk)
