Rivers at Brockholes / Lunt Meadows (half day)

KS2 and KS3 small
River Ribble at Brockholes

Key Stage 2 students will look at the key features and processes of a river. The children will walk alongside the river to look at features such as erosion, deposition and meanders. The children will also create a river map using natural materials (e.g. sticks, leaves etc.) that they find in the woodland.

Key Stage 3 students will go on a walk alongside the river and learn about at the river processes, landforms, flood management and how flooding might affect us. The students will also have the chance to compare this river to another river elsewhere in the world and think about how flooding affects people/communities. If you would like us to cover anything else in particular if you let us know we can adapt our programme to suit you.

Please note we do not go into the river at Brockholes or Lunt Meadows as the river is too wide/steep, so we cannot run practical fieldwork investigations in the river.
