Wildlife sampling

Two people conducting a grassland survey

Ross Hoddinott/2020VISION

The students can experience a variety of wildlife sampling techniques, such as using quadrats and transects, to sample the ground flora and trees in the woodland or meadows. In our full day Wildlife Sampling/Surveying session the students can also investigate other sampling techniques such as freshwater invertebrate, terrestrial invertebrate and/or bird surveying techniques. If there are any sampling/survey techniques that you are particularly interested in, please let us know. The number of different techniques that we can cover may depend on the time available in the day and your objectives – for example, if you are interested in collecting data for coursework this would take longer and so we couldn’t cover as many different techniques in one day. (This is a full day, two workshops.)
