Minibeasts workshop

EYFS KS1 KS2
minibeast hunt brockholes

Our minibeast workshops normally include a minibeast hunt in one of our woodlands. The children will search for minibeasts in the woodland and will use the ID guides to identify the minibeasts/invertebrates they find. As a class they will discuss how the minibeasts are adapted to their habitat/micro-habitat. Alongside this we may make minibeast homes/habitat piles and/or use natural materials to create pictures of minibeasts on the woodland floor, depending on your learning objectives for your visit and time available in the session. During the summer months (May-July) there is also the opportunity to run sweep netting near the meadow. This involves using a butterfly net in groups to carefully catch and identify flying invertebrates. This activity is weather dependent. (This is a half day workshop.)
