Nature sustainability

KS2 workshop
Oxeye daisy

In this workshop the children will go on a wildlife walk around our reserve to allow the children to see the wildlife on our reserve and to learn about why it is important to look after it. The children will also think about what we can do to help save the planet and take action for nature. They will work in small groups to create their own eco banner in the woods, using white material and natural materials (e.g. mud and berries as paints) to inspire others to take action for nature and become more sustainable. They will also make their own personal pledge to help the environment.

We can either run this as a half day session alongside another workshop or as a full day session, depending on what you would like to do. In our full day Nature Sustainability session the children can also further explore the different habitats and will have the opportunity to take part in some practical activities such as bird watching, making bird feeders, minibeast hunt etc. These aspects complement the activities in the half day session and enable the children to experience wildlife first hand to inspire them to take action for nature/the planet and to encourage them to become more sustainable in the future.

We have an Eco-Lunch Challenge that we can run with your school group, where we weigh the amount of rubbish that your school group produces from your lunches. (Your group is encouraged to bring the least amount of waste packaging as you can.) The children can learn about the importance of reducing our single use plastics and play our turtle plastic pollution game.
