Rivers at Bolton ERC (full day)

KS2 workshop
Bolton ERC

In our full day Rivers session at Bolton ERC we look at the key features and processes of a river, focusing on Bradshaw Brook at Seven Acres Local Nature Reserve. The children will observe the river features and processes, including erosion and deposition. The children will also have a chance to have a go at kick sampling in the river to look for aquatic invertebrates and discover how river processes influence habitats and wildlife, using invertebrates as examples. The children will also carry out interactive investigations to see river processes in action. Please note that kick sampling does involve entering the river (in a safe and controlled manner), so children will need to be wearing wellies in order to participate in this activity.
