This workshop will allow children to experience life in the Stone Age era through practical hands on activities. The children will work in small groups to make natural shelters using natural materials in the woodland. We also discuss different Stone Age fire lighting techniques and the children will then use a similar but modern alternative (fire steel) to light a fire in a safe environment. The children will have the chance to look at some stone age artefacts, create their own cave art, complete a picture foraging/tracking trail around one of our woodlands and play our hunting stars game (which involves throwing two sticks tied together at a target).
If you choose Brockholes for this workshop, and if time allows, we also have a stone circle that the children can visit and learn about.
