Lancashire
Valley Loop
Last
year was the inaugural Lancashire Valley Loop ride, which saw 20
participants ride on behalf of The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire,
Manchester and North Merseyside, raising £1500 in support of our
work.
Top
fundraiser was Mr Edwin Booth, Chairman Booths Supermarkets, who
received a Preston Recycling jersey as reward for his efforts. Booths
also put in a team entry that raised further income on our behalf.
This
year we are repeating the exercise, and hope to attract even more
entries and raise even more in support of our valuable work in support
of wildlife.
The
Lancashire Valley Loop 100 ride offers breathtaking scenery and
5000ft ascent along quiet country lanes taking in some of Lancashire's
most spectacular countryside. The route starts and finishes at Cockerham
Village Hall and passes through Halton, Hornby, Slaidburn, Tosside,
Whalley, Longridge, Bilsborrow and St Michaels on Wyre.
In
addition we have a 45-mile loop, also run from Cockerham Village
Hall, which visits idyllic Chipping, with its renown Cobbled Corner
Café, rejoining the above route at Longridge.
The
routes will be fully signed and marshalled with a refreshment station
on the way to stock up on drink and energy supplies. There will
be back up transport for those who run out of steam or experience
technical difficulties, and St John's Ambulance will be present
at ride headquarters throughout the day. All ages and abilities
are welcome. Please encourage families and friends to sponsor your
endeavours.
Leisure
Lakes Bikes have kindly agreed to support this year's event and
provided two cycle jerseys to the top fundraisers. www.LeisureLakesBikes.com.

This
year was the inaugural 10km run series run in the scenic Cuerden
Valley Park, nr Chorley. It is a testing, multi-terrain route, which
includes gates, stiles, fields and a ruined mill. All three events
were run over the same challenging course on Thursday evenings in
May, June and July. The course is well marked with marshals en-route.
Presentations occur after each event with a substantial prize list,
plus spot prizes and raffle. Plenty of car parking, changing facilities
and refreshments are available.
Start
and finish at The Barn, the Lancashire Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre,
within easy access of Jct 28 / 29 M6, Jct 1 M65 or Jct 8 M61.
This
is what they said:
"Great
great fun and something I want to do again and again."
"Will
I do it again ? Of course - it's never going to provide a pb for
me as it's definitely a testing route - but the fun and scenic factor
makes it worthwhile."
Why
not come and join us next year? You could make those miles count
even more by getting sponsorship for the 'Badger Set 2007' Get those
trainers on. We look forward to seeing you!

Donor's
Charter
The Donor's Charter is a statement of principle setting out a fundraiser's
commitment to donors. It states the standards a donor can expect
from fundraisers and organisations before, during and after the
processing of the gift, be it a spontaneous donation of loose change
or a substantial sum committed over many years. It also sets out
the complaints procedure.
