May 2023 Photography Competition Results

Kerrilee Barrett

Spring Blooms was the theme for May’s photography competition and our incredible photographers did not disappoint!

Spring is the time of year where wildlife comes to life! We see the return of some of our favourite birds, insects and all the incredible wildflowers, that have begun to bloom once more.

From the small buttercup to the luscious orchid, wildflowers come in all shapes, sizes and colours, all of which are breath-taking when they bloom. However, these wonderful blooms are not just pretty faces as they provide homes for insects and produce pollen ready for the incredible bees to harvest.

We have received some fantastic images this month! The way that our photographers manged to capture their ‘spring blooms’ is just incredible, and we can’t wait for you to see our top 3!

As always, we have received some fantastic entries that made it hard for our judges to choose however, there can be only one winner. After much deliberation the winner of May’s photography competition is…Kerrilee Barrett!

Buttercups

Kerrilee Barrett

Kerrilee’s fantastic image ‘Childhood Memories’ captures the incredible vibrancy of the buttercup and as the title suggests, transported our judges back to their childhood memories of running through fields full of buttercups. Our judges also loved the way the image was taken from below filling the frame with a wonderful yellow glow.

Forget-me-nots

Carol Menzies

Second place goes to Carol Menzies with her beautiful forget-me-nots! We definitely won’t be forgetting this photo anytime soon, the way that she has manged to capture the incredible detail of these small delicate flowers really impressed our judges.

Oxeye Daisies

Ilse Bogerd

Finally, in third place we have Ilse Bogerd and her stunning oxeye daisies titled ‘Dizzy Daisy’. Our judges loved the way she captured the beauty of these simple but stunning flowers up close, highlighting the incredible contrast between the yellow centre and white petals.

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images! The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize.
