The Bolton Environment Resource Centre was built in 2006 in a bid to develop a constant community resource for those in Bolton and the surrounding areas. Set in the magnificent grounds of the Seven Acres Local Nature Reserve, the centre reaches hundreds of pupils in and around Bolton each year.
Exploring The Natural World
The very location of the Environment Resource Centre makes it the perfect setting for children to explore the natural world. Students can literally step out of the building and have access to pond dipping, grasslands and woodland, all with disabled access.
For more in depth sessions, a ten minute walk leads to the very heart of Seven Acres Local Nature Reserve, where students can engage with a vast amount of habitats including wildflower meadows, heathland, hedgerows, wetlands and the Bradshaw Brook. This vast range of habitats, combined with the knowledge and enthusiasm of LWT staff makes Seven Acres LNR a place where topics such as habitats, adaptations, food chains, interdependence, ecological relationships and many more come to life.
About Our Programmes
Rather than having set environmental sessions, we can develop bespoke sessions, all of which will be curriculum linked, to best suit the needs of your students and their education. We specialise in catering for Key Stages 1 - 3, but are able to provide environmental education sessions for any level.
Reaching Out For Wildlife
The Bolton Environment Resource Centre also has a team of experts on hand to deliver a range of highly successful education programmes in schools throughout the area. In particular, the team have been utilising their expertise to improve school grounds as a resource for wildlife, education and the wider community.
The LEA Health and Safety approved centre also boasts a fully equipped resource room, several large activity rooms and onsite parking. Find out more here
Beyond The Classroom
The resource centre also runs a range of after school and holiday clubs, family events and the Severn Acres Swifts Watch club. To find the next event visit our calendar.
