Ever wanted to learn more about conservation and gain new skills? Keep healthy, protect wildlife and meet likeminded people? You have come to the right place - so long as you don't mind a bit of mud!
Get Back To Nature
Conservation volunteers get to visit some of the most beautiful parts of England's countryside, helping to preserve threatened habitats. Our practical days offer you the chance to really get back to nature, and work alongside staff who will help you to develop your confidence and skills.
Most of our groups have a pick up point from city centres in a minibus, so you don't need to worry about transport, just bring your enthusiasm and some wellies!
Learn A New Skill
Learn how to build bridges and dams, coppice a wood, build a bonfire, and conserve our precious habitats. Volunteering work parties take places come rain or shine and aren't afraid to get mucky, so be prepared to get stuck in. Boost your heart with a very natural 'wildlife workout' and feel great, a cup of tea never tasted so good!
Something For Everyone
Volunteer work parties do get out to remote and wild areas, so often need to be reasonably fit to reach sites across uneven ground, bogs and mud, and to dig a hole or chop down trees when you get there!
However, there is a wide range of projects all over the region, and our volunteer team will help you find something to suit you. If you are a community group who would like a day out we can arrange a taster day, and you don't need to be super-fit or qualified to make a difference.
Get That Feeling!
Everyone knows that conservation volunteers are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet, lots of our volunteers join to meet other likeminded people and there are plenty of social events like the annual volunteer conference, trips to different reserves or Christmas pub lunches to toast your hard work!
Training
If you are a regular volunteer there are plenty of opportunities to take part in training
and get accredited through AQA's. Have a look at our Training Programmes here.
Meet The Team
Our work party supervisors are fun, friendly and knowledgeable, they will make sure you are safe and smiling, and of course they will have tea and biscuits ready when you are! Some of our groups pick up from towns or cities in a minibus, so you don't need your own transport.
Get Stuck In
We can provide wellies and gloves, but volunteers must be ready to get a bit muddy and get stuck in, you'll need a packed lunch and a waterproof coat just in case!
To find out about all the practical conservation opportunities please follow the link to What's On where you can see when the work parties take place, what they get up to and where they go. To register to take part with one of these groups or to chat to the Volunteer team please click here.
So go on... what are you waiting for? Take action for wildlife today!
