Working hard for a blooming 2021

At work with Whalley in Bloom

Volunteers have been working hard in preparation for next year’s Whalley in Bloom.

The group have cleared an area of turf in Whalley Park, in George Street, and spread wildflower seeds so it will create a colourful, nectar café for wildlife next year.

Leading the team was Lancashire Wildlife Trust volunteer Phil Dykes joined by Elaine, Mary and Dave of Whalley in Bloom, as they removed the turf, which was then taken to Whalley Abbey. Phil is the Trust’s former East Lancashire Reserves Officer, who just won’t retire!

Phil took along a turf cutter to help the removal of the grass.
