The importance of gardens for wildlife
Did you know? There are over 20 million gardens in the UK, covering a larger surface area than all 2,600 Wildlife Trust nature reserves combined!
With many UK species in decline, these spaces are so important for wildlife. If we each were to take a few small actions to help wildlife in our gardens and yards, we could create a patchwork of millions of mini nature reserves, acting as stepping stones for wildlife to move around safely and find vital food, water and shelter.
On this page we've gathered lots of resources to help you take simple steps to attract more wildlife to your doorstep, whether you have a large garden, a small yard, or even a balcony - every space counts.
