Meet our Education Team

Connecting people with nature is at the heart of everything we do. Every year, our Education Team inspires thousands of children and young people across Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside to discover wildlife, explore the outdoors and take action for nature.

From Forest School sessions and pond dipping adventures to curriculum-linked workshops, our team works with schools, colleges and community groups to make nature accessible, engaging and unforgettable. Every activity is designed to encourage hands-on learning and give young people the chance to experience wildlife in a meaningful way. Whether it’s exploring a woodland habitat or learning about local conservation projects, the team helps bring environmental education to life.

So, who are the people helping the next generation fall in love with the natural world? Let’s meet the Education Team.

Inspiring learning through nature

Our Education Team is made up of passionate educators, wildlife enthusiasts and outdoor learning specialists who believe that every child should have the chance to experience nature first-hand.

Whether they’re leading bug hunts in school grounds, teaching bushcraft skills in woodland settings or helping pupils understand the importance of biodiversity, the team creates meaningful experiences that build confidence, curiosity and connection to the natural world.

No two days are ever the same. One morning might involve guiding a class through minibeast surveys, while the afternoon could be spent designing wildlife-friendly outdoor learning spaces or supporting teachers with environmental education resources. Learn more about school visits

Learning beyond the classroom

We know that nature offers one of the best classrooms there is. Spending time outdoors can improve wellbeing, encourage teamwork and help children develop practical skills alongside their understanding of wildlife and conservation. Outdoor learning also gives young people the freedom to explore, experiment and engage with the natural world in a more active and meaningful way. These experiences can help boost confidence, reduce stress and support both personal and academic development.

That’s why our Education Team delivers a wide variety of activities to schools and communities across the region. Their programmes include Forest School sessions that encourage independent learning and exploration, wildlife workshops and school visits that introduce children to local species and habitats, and outdoor curriculum sessions that bring classroom topics to life in natural settings. The team also run nature wellbeing activities, seasonal wildlife events and family and community engagement sessions, helping people of all ages connect with wildlife and enjoy the benefits of spending time outdoors together.

Helping the next generation take action for nature

At Lancashire Wildlife Trust, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of nature and feel empowered to protect it. Encouraging young people to connect with wildlife is an important part of creating healthier communities and a more sustainable future. Through education and outdoor experiences, we aim to inspire the next generation to value and care for the natural world.

Our Education Team plays a vital role in making that happen every day, nurturing curiosity, encouraging environmental responsibility and helping young people build lifelong connections with the natural world. By creating supportive and engaging learning experiences, the team empowers children and young people to feel confident in exploring and protecting nature. Their work helps inspire positive environmental actions both in schools and at home.
