Lost plants returning to Holiday Moss

Lost plants returning to Holiday Moss

Ben Osbourne

Lancashire Wildlife Trust has received a grant from Veolia Environmental Trust's Landfill Communities Fund to bring lost peatland plants back to our reserve in Rainford.

Funding from the The Veolia Environmental Trust Landfill Communities Fund will help to restore Holiday Moss in Rainford, St Helens.

The funding will help to bring back plants that have disappeared from the peatland, such as crowberry, bilberry and heathers, as well as working on getting Himalayan balsam under control.

Two volunteer sessions will be held on site as part of this work, giving a chance for people to see the site which is usually closed to the public, and there will also be an engagement evening at a local venue to inform the local community of the work that's been undertaken for wildlife.

This work has been funded by Veolia Environmental Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund.
