Suez provides a helping hand once again

Suez and Monks Contractors have provided help to The Greenhouse Project in clearing part of the compound at Witton Park.

Back in 2021 Suez kindly stepped in to help us get rid of the asbestos that was present in the greenhouses at Witton Park in Blackburn.

This week they’ve given The Greenhouse Project another helping hand to clear many tonnes of waste from the compound, with the help of Chris Monk from Monks Contractors, who provided a skip and a digger. Thanks to the wonderful help provided, The Greenhouse Project has space to expand its efforts, some of which will be to generate income and make the project sustainable for years to come.

Huge thanks to Suez and Monks for their kind help

This new space is going to be well utilised in the next year, creating a community compost facility sharing Blackburn with Darwen’s green waste compost with other food growing projects in the borough, a log store to season wood which will be sold to support The Greenhouse Project, a green roof bike shelter to make commuting to the greenhouses easier encouraging active travel, and finally an outdoor cooking area, where the project will be holding cooking demonstrations.

Huge thanks from Andy Mather and Lancashire Wildlife Trust to Suez and Monks Contractors for their wonderful support for this project.
