Photography Competition Results – April 2024

Kath Waterston

This month ‘It’s a Bugs life’ and our entries, as always, have been outstanding!

For April’s photography competition we want to celebrate the smaller side of nature and focus on the incredible world of bugs under the theme ‘it’s a bugs life’. From Spiders to Ladybirds, Beetles and many more, the bug kingdom is both vast and incredible.

This month we have received some truly beautiful images from our photography competition entrants. However, as always there can we only one winner.

The winner of April’s photography competition is… Kath Waterston!

Hibernating Ladybirds

Kath Waterston

What a wonderful photograph! From the texture of the bark on the tree to the hibernating ladybirds, our judges loved how Kath captured the detail, clarity and composition of this whole image. The way she captures these small ladybirds as they burrow in the tree is wonderful and highlights how nature can be found even in the smallest of spaces.

Beetle

Louise Monique Dullaghan

Second Place goes to Louise Monique Dullaghan and this fantastic image titled ‘When mum isn’t looking’. The way she captures these little beetles as they follow the leader along the leaf is truly magical. The technicolour shine of the beetles’ shells really pops against the blurred leaf in the background.

Jumping Spider

Michaela Moville

Finally, third place goes to Michaela Moville and this wonderful Jumping Spider. Our judges were very impressed with this lovely photograph of this little spider. From its black, beady eyes staring directly at the camera, to the fine hairs that coat its legs, the detail of this image is outstanding.

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images! To see all the incredible entries we received, please take a look at the album below. The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize.
