Small Copper taken at Brockholes Nature Reserve and entered into the photo competition

The vibrant colours of a butterfly’s wings can instantly transport you to Summer. This beautiful image, taken at Brockholes Nature Reserve, captures the colours of this small copper perfectly. The detail and clarity of this photograph is truly breathtaking. We loved how the blurred-out background makes the butterfly the focus of the image and highlights it’s vibrant orange markings beautifully.

This photography captured the attention and admiration of our voters, with one stating that the photo has a ‘beautiful composition’ and another adding that it is a ‘beautiful photo of a small copper’.

Runner up

July’s Runner up is Tracy Robinson with this beautiful bee. Captured at Brockholes Nature Reserve, we loved the rich golden colour of the flower that makes up the background of this image. The honey-like colour of the flower illuminates the bee as it feeds on the sweet nectar.

One voter added that ‘its colours are golden and yellow just how the summertime should be’.

Titled 'yellow is the Colour of Summer' this bee was captured at Brockholes Nature Reserve and entered into our photography competition

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images this month! The overall winner will be contacted via email.

The theme for August's photography competition is 'Wildlife Close-ups'.

This is your chance to zoom in on nature's details. From dragonflies and butterflies to mammals hiding in plain sight, or even a singular flower growing within the wildflower meadows, seeing nature close-up is truly a wonderful sight.
