With our region transformed into a winter wonderland, the entries we received were magnificent. From superb shots of winter wildlife spectacles to scenic images of the majestic ice-covered landscapes around us, we're overjoyed that so many people continue getting involved. Â
After much deliberation, Rebecca Watt’s ‘Frosty Morning Walk’, taken at Brockholes Nature Reserve, was awarded first place. Â

Our judge absolutely loved this image and stated that "The intricate detail is mesmerising. The crisp morning frost offset against the vibrant blue sky creates a marvelous image and encapsulates everything that's so great about this time of year."
Ben Abbott
In second place is Ben Abbot. Our judge commented that "Ben has captured the resplendent nature of the wonderful mute swan. The composition of this image, whereby the regal swan is framed by a picture perfect sunset, illustrates the natural beauty at Brockholes Nature Reserve."
Craig Stirzaker
In third place is Craig Stirzaker’s ‘Festive Friend’, taken at Brockholes Nature Reserve. Our judge noted that "This photograph charmingly presents one of the festive seasons favourite characters. The Robin Red Breast is synonymous with Christmas, and this image delightfully depicts their inquisitive and bold nature."
The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize. Additionally, all winning photos will be displayed in our visitor centres for everyone to see. Â

January’s competition is currently open and has the theme of 'A Winter’s Scene'. As per 2021 rule changes, photographs can be taken anywhere in the Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside region and are not limited to Lancashire Wildlife Trust nature reserves.Â
