March photography competition results

Mark Harder

March’s photography competition theme was ‘Signs of Spring’, and we received a delightful array of uplifting images that showcased the wondrous nature of the season.

This month's entries really brought to life this wonderful time of year. From picturesque catkins and colourful blossom to heart-warming ducklings, the photographers who entered the competition certainly delivered a much-needed moment of joy. We're delighted that so many people continue to enter our photography competition and share their favourite nature moments.

As always, it was an extremely difficult decision to choose this month's winner, however, after much deliberation Bob Hurrell’s ‘Robin Collecting Nesting Materials’ was awarded first prize.

Robin

Bob Hurrell

Our judge was overjoyed when they saw this image, saying that, "This picture-perfect photo beautifully captures the resilient spirit of this delightful little robin. You can really see its character shine through."

Frog

Mark Harder

In second place is Mark Harder's ‘Frog at Brockholes’. Our judge said, "Nothing embodies spring more than frogs returning to their breeding ponds. This image captures a sure sign of spring - the sight of a protective frog guarding its spawn immediately lifts the spirit of anyone lucky enough to see them, and this photo certainly makes me smile."

Snowdrops

Zoe Hodkinson

Finally, in third place is Zoe Hodkinson’s ‘Dew on Snowdrops’. Our judge loved this photograph and stated that, "The composition of this photo represents everything which is magical about this time of year, and symbolically conveys the changing of seasons. The vibrant colour really makes the image jump off the screen too."

The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize. Additionally, all winning photos will be displayed in our visitor centres for everyone to see.
