This month we received a splendid selection of images all under the theme of ‘Shades of Autumn’. We are delighted that so many people continue to get involved with our photography competition, and in turn highlight some of the amazing wildlife and wild places in our region. Â
After much deliberation, Paul Hunt was selected as the winner of this month's competition.Â

Our judge selected this image for its "eye-catching quality and ability to illustrate the immense beauty of this long-eared owl." Additionally, the photo captures this month's theme in the rich tapestry of autumn colours that contrasts with the owl. The timing and skill required to capture an owl in full flight is quite an achievement, let alone photograph one with such detail and precision. Congratulations Paul!
Lucie May AnyonÂ
In second place is Lucie May Anyon. Our judge loved the characterful nature of this image, saying that: "This roe deer peeping through the sun dappled autumn woodland is picture perfect, and has an endearing quality which makes you just want to keep on looking."
Joanne CareyÂ
Finally, in third place is Joanne Carey. Our judge commented: "Throughout autumn many of the leaves around us quickly transform into a diverse palette of colour, encompassing everything from burnt orange to vivid red. Joanne's image captures the rich variety of autumn colour, with the reflections splashed across the water adding to its stunning beauty."
The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize. Additionally, all winning photos will be displayed in our visitor centres for everyone to see.     Â

November’s competition is currently open and has the theme of ‘Christmas Card Wildlife’. As per 2021 rule changes, photographs can be taken anywhere in the Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside region and are not limited to Lancashire Wildlife Trust nature reserves.           Â
