Family Friendly Bat Walk - Championing Nature's Autumn Heartbeat Moment
About the event
After a delicious hot drink and snack, our Bat Walk Night will start with an introduction to these fascinating creatures and the equipment we will be using to detect them. We will then head in to the woods for a walk to see how many bats are out and about!
Flitting out of the rising darkness like shadows, these nocturnal mammals are as charismatic as they are misunderstood. Britain is home to 18 species of bat, the largest being the noctule which weighs as little as four £1 coins, and the smallest, the pipistrelle, weighing as little as a 2p coin, is known to gobble up more than 500 insects in an hour! Join the Championing Nature team to see which species are living in Kenworthy Woods.
Please come dressed for the weather conditions wearing sturdy footwear.
