The day gave everyone a chance to explore upcoming changes to sustainability reporting, discover why businesses need to understand their nature-related risk and gave sustainability professionals the opportunity to network with industry peers.

"The Lancashire Wildlife's Business and Biodiversity event was exceptionally well organised and provided valuable insights into the evolving climate, biodiversity and nature-related legislative landscape for listed companies, SMEs and international businesses. As an ESG & Sustainability Lead at Victrex, it was particularly useful to hear how organisations are leveraging their relationships with nature to create meaningful value for employees, customers and investors. The diverse mix of attendees fostered engaging discussions, practical knowledge sharing and a range of perspectives that made the event both insightful and inspiring." - Annabelle, Sustainability & ESG lead, Victrex

Although the rain put a stop to our planned birdlife walk, it didn’t dampen the mood. Lorna, Brockholes Senior Reserves Manager, brought the reserve indoors with an engaging introduction to some of the wildlife that makes its home here.

Our CEO, Tom Burditt, opened the event before Lancashire Wildlife Trust trustees Richard Betts and Andy Meek shared their expertise in sustainability reporting and why it makes long-term financial sense to support nature. Claire Louise, our Director of Income Generation, concluded the presentations by letting businesses know how we can help businesses engage employees and achieve their environmental objectives.

Throughout the event there was lively conversation and a shared enthusiasm for helping nature. People readily exchanged ideas and experiences across different industries, showing just how much enthusiasm there is for putting nature on the business agenda.

"I would highly recommend the Business & Biodiversity event at Brockholes Nature Reserve. The Wildlife Trust team were incredibly welcoming, and the guest speakers kept everyone engaged throughout. The content was relevant across a range of industries, with plenty of opportunities for questions and networking. A great event, made even better by the beautiful surroundings of the Nature Reserve." - Scott Robinson, Sustainability Administrator, Beechfield Brands

A heartfelt thank you our speakers, and every business that joined us. Your curiosity and willingness to share ideas made the day a real success. By working together with business, we can improve biodiversity and enable more people in our region to enjoy nature.
