We're celebrating World Ocean's Day in Blackpool!

An event in Blackpool will join in celebrations around the planet for World Oceans Day on Saturday 8 June 2019.

LOVEmyBEACH and Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s marine team are organising a World Oceans Day event to raise awareness of the importance of the oceans and the Irish Sea.

People around our blue planet will celebrate the oceans which connect us all and the event will give people an opportunity to find out more about our own wonderful marine habitats.

The free event for adults and children will include games and activities, such as mini beach cleans, strandline searches, egg case hunts and a sandcastle competition. There will also be eco-friendly face paints and a chance to meet a mermaid in our mermaid’s cave!

LOVEmyBEACH and Lancashire Wildlife Trust work together with other marine organisations to ensure that people understand the importance of the Irish Sea and its inhabitants. Did you know that a huge area just off the coast of Blackpool - the Fylde Marine Conservation Zone - is a protected area?
