Bolton Council, in partnership with Lancashire Wildlife Trust, has secured a major grant of £4,465,552 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver the Rock Hall Revival project.

The funding, made possible thanks to National Lottery players, will support the transformation of Rock Hall into a vibrant community heritage hub and visitor destination, celebrating the building’s rich history while connecting people with the surrounding natural environment.

 Bolton Council’s Library and Museum Service is the lead and accountable body for the project, working closely with Lancashire Wildlife Trust to deliver an ambitious programme of restoration, engagement, and environmental improvements.

The Rock Hall Revival project will restore and repurpose the historic building, creating a welcoming space for local people and visitors.

 Plans include heritage interpretation, community activities, learning opportunities, and improved access to the surrounding landscape.

 A Bolton Council Spokesperson said:

 “This is fantastic news for Bolton and a real vote of confidence in our vision for Rock Hall.

 “Thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players, we can now bring this historic building back to life as a place where people can come together, learn about our shared heritage, and enjoy the natural environment.

 “This investment will not only protect an important local landmark but also create new opportunities for community engagement, education, and tourism.”

 “We can't wait to open the doors to Rock Hall and welcome everyone in, new faces as well as some familiar ones, who'll come along to pop in for a chat, look at the space, engage with the heritage, enjoy food and a brew with us and hopefully join us for all the wonderful events we'll be putting on, both in the building itself and in the beautiful wider park.  The project marks a major step forward in realising a long-term vision for Rock Hall, positioning it as a key destination within Bolton and the wider region.
