About the event

Enjoy a foray around the reserve, as you hunt for marvellous mushrooms, we will have a number of walks taking place throughout the day, lead by the fabulous North West Fungus Group, which you can book onto.

Mere Sands Wood is one of the most spectacular locations in Lancashire for finding fungi, throughout autumn and winter fly agaric, earthballs and common stinkhorn appear across the reserve.

The North West Fungus Group (NWFG) have offered to share their knowledge on the day. There will be real life mycologists, fungi displays and activities taking place throughout the day alongside our fungi forays. Tickets must be purchased in advance for the forays and are available below.

Walk 1  10:30am - 12:30pm - Best suited to families with small children 

Walk 2   11:00am -1:00pm

Walk 3  1:30pm - 3:30pm

What to bring

Suitable clothing and footwear for the weather on the day. The Fungal Forays will mainly be along gravel paths, though some woodland stretches are unsurfaced. The gravel paths are suitable for wheelchair users.
