Tell us your memories of the River Mersey

The River Mersey connects people and wildlife from Liverpool, Wirral, Cheshire and Manchester to the open sea - a place full of memories, meaning and incredible nature.

We are gathering these stories because the River Mersey as we know it is under threat. In 2026, Mersey Tidal Power will submit an application to build a barrage across this beloved landscape.

We need your help to show just how much this special river means to the people who live alongside it. Whether it’s a photo you’ve taken, a memory, a poem or a piece of creative writing, you can share it with us below.

If your photos are a larger file size than detailed below, or if you'd like to submit a video, please send it via WeTransfer to comms@lancswt.org.uk

We’ll be bringing your submissions together in a blog, celebrating the deep connection people have with the Mersey, so keep an eye on both Trusts' social media to see it come to life (or your emails if you consent to receiving them from us).
