Photography Competition Results - November 2025

Martyn Goodwin

The results are in for November’s photography competition!

As the leaves begin to fall from the trees and the first frosts of Winter arrive, our nature reserves transform once more.

This time of year, brings around some incredible transformations that are a joy to see. We see our forests shedding their leaves in preparation for the Winter, the starlings have taken to the skies at Brockholes to begin their Winter dance, and our landscapes glisten in the early morning sun as the frosts settle in.

The theme for November was ‘Seasonal Transformations’ and the entries we have received are incredible.

The Winner for November’s photography competition, chosen via our public vote, is … Martyn Goodwin!

Kid in the Forest - Martyn Goodwin - Brockholes - Photo competition winner Nov 2025

Taken at Brockholes Nature Reserve this beautiful brown deer amongst the autumnal forest fits this month’s theme perfectly. The composition of this image is wonderful. Although blurred, we see the barren branches and hues of autumn in the background whilst the beauty of the deer remains in clear focus.

One voter agreed that this photograph is ‘beautiful’, whilst another said that they ‘love this shot of the deer foraging in the Autumn woodland’.

Runner up

This month's runner up is Grant Pickup!

Captured at Cross Hill Quary, the clarity of the white frost as it encases the evergreen leaf, is beautiful. A scene that we have all seen on our winter walks, this image really highlights the theme of seasonal transformations.

One voter added that this photograph ‘really invoked feelings and memories of walking around Brockholes on an icy, cold and crispy day’.
