What a beautiful moment to capture! To be able to see this little wren collecting foliage ready to build its nest in time for nesting season, is truly wonderful. From the beady black eye of the wren to its long beak clasping around the moss, we loved the detail of this little bird.

Our voters loved this photo! They thought that it fit this month’s theme perfectly with voters saying that it is a ‘cute picture of a wren’ and that ‘nest building is a sure sign of spring’.

Runner up

This month runner up is … Annabel Cookson and this beautiful chaffinch. This fantastic action shot captures this beautiful bird as it feeds, perfectly.

One voter said, ‘The photograph captures its cheeky nature and it's always comforting to see our wild birds coming out of winter looking healthy and ready for breeding.’
