Our Red Squirrel Project needs volunteers to help us to establish the distribution of red and grey squirrels throughout North Merseyside and West Lancashire during March and October.

Our Red Squirrel Project works to maintain red squirrels in the Merseyside and West Lancashire Stronghold through control of grey squirrels, monitoring of squirrel populations and public engagement.

We run a bi-annual monitoring programme every Spring and Autumn to establish the distribution of red and grey squirrels throughout North Merseyside and West Lancashire. This is undertaken for 3 weeks in March and 3 weeks in October.

We need volunteers to undertake a variety of activities which include carrying out visual transects and putting up hair tubes. Full training will be given.
