Hedgehog Hotspots

Please help us understand how hedgehogs are faring across our region!

When was the last time you saw a hedgehog?

Have you seen a hedgehog recently? Perhaps you've had some visiting your garden, or maybe it's been a while since you last saw one? Either way, we'd like to know!

Now in its seventh year, we're conducting our hedgehog sightings survey again this autumn, and we want to gather as much information as we can about hedgehogs in Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

Please keep your eyes peeled and report any sightings via our survey below. Equally, if you don't see any hedgehogs, this is still valuable information to help us keep track of how our hogs are faring - just select the "Other" pin on the map. Thank you for taking part!

This will help us ensure your sighting is sent to the relevant county's local records centre. If you are reporting that you did not see a hedgehog, please select n/a.
If you are reporting that you did not see a hedgehog, please select n/a.
What was the hedgehog doing? What was the habitat like? Perhaps you didn't see a hedgehog, but you saw a sign that one had been nearby? Any information you can give is helpful.
Do you have any other information or context that you'd like to share? If you've taken part in our annual survey before, how does this year compare in terms of how many hedgehogs you've spotted?
We'd love to share your hedgehog photos with our supporters on social media, on our blog and in our email newsletter. If you are happy for us to showcase your photos, please tick this box. We will be sure to credit any photos that we share with your name.

If you'd like to be kept up to date with the results of our hedgehog sightings survey, along with other news from around the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, don't forget to leave your email so that we can stay in touch!

As well as the survey results, you will also receive regular newsletters with tips and advice to help you connect with nature, events that may interest you, and the latest news from around the Trust. We hope you enjoy these wild updates but if not, you can unsubscribe at any time.

We respect your privacy and will never sell your details. For more information about how we use your data please click here, and if you have any questions, please call 01772 324129 or email marketing@lancswt.org.uk.

What if I've seen a sick or injured hedgehog?

If you've seen a sick or injured hedgehog, please take a look at our page below for advice on what to do next. Please bear in mind that we aren't an animal rescue charity, and we don't have the facilities to take in injured wildlife ourselves, so we are unable to help directly; however, the page below will direct you to a variety of brilliant local rescue and rehabilitation centres across our region who should be able to help.
