Behind the scenes

The Lancashire Wildlife Trust undertakes a huge amount of work to protect wildlife across our region, however we rarely see what happens behind the scenes. Learn more about some of the unseen work that we do.

Important work behind the scenes

Did you know? Protecting wildlife and restoring nature takes much more than what you see when you visit a nature reserve. Behind the scenes, a huge amount of work goes into creating, restoring and protecting the habitats that wildlife depends on.

At Lancashire Wildlife Trust, our work goes far beyond caring for the places you visit. From restoring habitats and managing nature reserves to monitoring wildlife, tackling invasive species and supporting threatened species, our teams work tirelessly behind the scenes to give nature the best possible chance to thrive.

Meet our Volunteering Team

Volunteers are at the heart of Lancashire Wildlife Trust. From practical conservation and wildlife surveying to education, events, visitor experience and behind-the-scenes support, our volunteers give their time, skills and enthusiasm to help nature recover and connect people with the natural world.

The Greenhouse Project

The Greenhouse Project started in 2021 when the Nature & Wellbeing team from the Lancashire Wildlife Trust took on the renovation of the long abandoned greenhouses, built in the 1970’s and left in 2009, in Witton Country Park, Blackburn.
