Light on the Wing

Light on the Wing

Irene Amiet is a free-lance writer, international photographer and incredible supporter of The Lancashire Wildlife Trust with donations being made with every sale of her beautiful coffee table book and photographic publication 'Light on the Wing'.

Irene Amiet is a free-lance writer and international photographer. Most recently, Irene won the Gold Award for nature photography of the Muse Awards 2021 but her work has garnered her many international accolades and has been printed on three continents as well as featured in Africa Geographic, NatGeo, The UK Times and the New York Post amongst many other publications.

Now in her home in the North of England, Irene is drawn to the local wildlife, untamed forests and rugged landscapes, as well as the farming lifestyle that connects people to the land. Irene sees herself as a story-teller, using the camera as a visualising tool for work that translates a moment in time in all its dimensions.

In nature, we find a promise of contingency, purpose and reason. We all play part in the finely-tuned balance of our eco-system. If human-kind separates itself from nature, we end up harvesting her bounties while disregarding the future. Appreciation for what is around us, and indeed part of us, is key in achieving sustainability.

In 2023 Irene contacted the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and started an ongoing partnership. Committing to donate £5 of every sale of her newest publication 'Light on the Wing' directly to our team of wildlife protectors. Donations like this are a vital income stream for us to continue the work we are doing at the Lancashire Wildlife Trust. It is a fantastic way for nature lovers to learn more about their local landscape, appreciate Irene's creative skill and talent and connect with her beautifully wild captures all whilst supporting conservation work in their area.

The book itself is a wonderful collection of dawns and dusks, birds in flights and creatures hidden in the hedgerow. Stunning snapshots into the abundant wildlife we have right on our doorstep in Lancashire and the surrounding counties.

Her work can be seen in the gallery she shares with her husband, Duncan Phillips: Knowle Top Studios, located in the Lancashire market town of Clitheroe.
