About the event

Join us at Mere Sands Wood for a family, wildlife and dog-friendly bonfire night. Unlike other bonfire nights, there will be no fireworks or loud rides, making it suitable for those that like a traditional bonfire night, people with young children, children and adults with sensory sensitivities and also those with dogs.

We will have live music from a local acoustic artist and our shop and café will be open and serving hot and cold refreshments as well as sweet treats and desserts.

The bonfire will be constructed from conservation byproducts, ensuring a responsible and eco-friendly experience, located on an island next to our lake and will be viewable from the café and seating areas outside including areas of covered space.

Mere Sands Wood is a part of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and we are a local charity working to create, manage and protect vital habitats and connect people with nature across Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside. Proceeds from our events support this work and also help us to provide and maintain facilities for visitors to our nature reserves. 

Important - Please note that due to limited parking on site, you must obtain a parking ticket in advance. If you do not have a parking ticket, you will not be able to park on site. 

Please do not park on residential streets in the village.

Paths on site will be open and locals are welcome to walk onto site but please wear appropriate footwear and clothing, bring torches and please familiarise yourself with routes before arrival.

Due to limited space in the café and as it’s a short distance from the car park to the café we are asking that people do not bring prams where possible.

• Café open throughout with live music throughout event
• Bonfire Lighting at 7:00 PM
• Carriages 8pm
