Communities in Blackburn and Burnley will be coming together to grow incredible moorland plants which will then be planted out on the moors, giving people a chance to directly work on peatland restoration, even if they can't make it up onto the wild moors of the West Pennines.

Growing Recovery is an exciting collaboration between Lancashire Peat Partnership, and Lancashire Wildlife Trust's nature and wellbeing team; growing peatland plants while providing people with a link to the landscape on their doorsteps.

At the moment we have two great community hubs growing our peatland plants, and hopefully will have more to come!
The Chai Centre, Burnley

In Burnley, we've been transforming the garden at the Chai Centre into a wonderful place for food growing and wildlife to be used by the local community. Now it will become a hub for growing these special plants for landscape recovery and connect people with the moors on their doorstep.
The Greenhouse Project, Blackburn

The Greenhouse Project at Witton Park has been working closely with the community for over five years, growing a superb range of food and flowers with it's wellbeing groups and volunteers. They've already been growing sphagnum moss and some peatland plants, so we're delighted to carry on and scale it up.
There will be practical moss and plant growing activities at The Greenhouse Project each Thursday morning.
