About the event

National Playday is the UK’s annual celebration of children’s right to play. 

Based within Bolton’s iconic Moss Bank Park, the Hive offers a unique space, made up of a series of gardens adorned with natural play equipment.

Designed with pre-schoolers and the under seven’s in mind, the Hive encourages young people to make lasting connections with nature through creative play. 

Enjoy wild adventure and outdoor play and you have access to all our wonderful natural play features and equipment including:

• Mud kitchen
• Willow domes and tunnels
• Watch tower
• Music station
• Activity trails
• Water play
• Den building
• Small world play

We’ll also have a selection of additional activities available for you and your little ones to enjoy including:

• Magic Wands and potions
• Lawn games
• Nature crowns
• Bubbles

Each Individual Day Pass costs £2.50 per person and provides entry to the site for one individual (adult or child). All visitors must have a ticket (babies under 6 months do not require a ticket). All children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Complimentary day entry for Season Pass holders for National Playday at The Hive. Season Pass holders attending must show their pass on arrival at The Hive.

The Hive is open between 10am and 3pm (last entry at 2pm). All entries will receive a 10% discount in the Moss Bank Park Café on the day of their visit.
